Fear or phobia of the dentist
If anxiety has made you put off treatment for years, sedation lets you have it done calmly.

Afraid of the dentist, or facing a long surgery far from home? With IV conscious sedation, administered and monitored by a medical anaesthetist, you go through your treatment relaxed, calm and pain-free.
“…I travelled from the Netherlands to have wisdom tooth surgery with Dr. Eloy Bustamante, and the experience exceeded all my expectations.”
What it is
Conscious sedation uses intravenous medication to bring you into a state of deep relaxation. It is not general anaesthesia: you keep breathing on your own and can respond if we speak to you, but the anxiety disappears and, afterwards, you barely remember the procedure.
It is always combined with local anaesthesia of the area being treated, so you feel no pain during the treatment.
At IDEA, sedation is administered and controlled by a medical doctor specialised in Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care, who stays with you throughout the procedure and watches your vital signs at all times.

Who for
We assess it with you, starting in the free video consultation. These are the most common situations:
If anxiety has made you put off treatment for years, sedation lets you have it done calmly.
Immediate loading implants, zygomatic implants, full-mouth rehabilitation or several extractions in one session.
For patients whose gag reflex makes normal dental treatment difficult.
Step by step
The anaesthetist reviews your medical history, medication and health before the day of the procedure. Send us your reports in advance.
Clear instructions: the fasting hours we indicate, and coming with a companion.
Intravenous sedation and continuous monitoring of your vital signs by the anaesthetist.
You rest in the clinic until you are fully awake, and leave with your companion the same day.
